BEARWOOD COLLEGE WORLD CHALLENGE 6 A SIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT RULES
1. General
All team managers should report to the Control Tent and register from 08.00 to 08.30 for morning games and 12.30 to 1.00 for afternoon games.
Team lists are required containing the names and dates of birth of all players.
All players age groups are as per 2007/8 season, i.e. U10 for this season is U10 for the Tournament.
The Tournament is 6 a side for age groups.
The U7 and U8 games will be a friendly participation event in accordance with the County FA ruling on prohibiting younger age group competitive football. All participants will receive an award for taking part.
The U9’s, U10’s & U11’s competitions will be run on a league basis with the top two teams qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Cup Competition. Teams finishing third and fourth will qualify for the quarter-finals of the Plate Competition.
Managers must ensure their teams are present and ready to play matches at the scheduled times.
This is vitally important for the timekeeping of the Tournament.
Any team that is late for a match will forfeit with a notional score of 0 – 2.
2. The Rules and Laws of Association Football shall apply with the following modifications:
· Size of field of play
· Size of ball
· Width between goalposts and height of crossbar
· Duration of the periods of play
· Number of Players per team and Substitutions
· There will be no offsides
· The back pass rule will NOT apply to Under 7’s and Under 8’s.
· Goal Kicks will be taken from the Goal Line for all age groups except Under 7’s and Under 8’s where they will be taken from the Penalty Area line
· For all Free Kicks and Goals Kicks opposing players must be at least 5 yards from the ball.
· Goalkeepers must not kick the ball from their hands. Once a goalkeeper controls the ball with his hands he must release the ball with a throw and cannot kick the ball until played by another player. (For Under 7’s and Under 8’s the goalkeepers may fly-kick the ball from their hands).
· The first named team for each match in the programme will have choice of ends and the second named team will kick off (In the Final the second named team will kick off the 1st half).
3. Size of Ball
Under 7’s and Under 8’s will play with a size 3 ball, Under 9’s to Under 11’s a size 4 ball.
The first named team for each match in the programme will present a suitable match ball to the Referee for the game.
4. Duration of Play
All Under 7 and Under 8 matches shall be 10 minute games with no half times.
Under 9 through to Under 11 league matches shall be 8 minute-games with no half times.
The quarter-finals and semi-finals shall be 10 minute games with no half times.
The Finals shall be two equal periods of 7 minutes.
5. Number of Players and Substitutions, Colour Clashes
A maximum of eight players can be named for a team.
Players can only play for one team during the tournament.
Rolling substitutes are allowed but only with the Referee’s permission during a stoppage in play.
In the event of a colour clash, unless there is agreement between the teams to the contrary, the second
named team in the programme will change.
6. Referees and Officiating
Referees for all matches will be appointed by the Tournament Committee and the Referees’ decisions on all points of play will be final.
Allowance for stoppages, time wasting etc. will be at the sole discretion of the Referees.
Abuse of officials by any Manager, their Assistants, Players or Supporters will result in immediate disqualification of the team.
Any player cautioned by the Referee can not take part in their team’s next match.
Any player sent off the field of play can not take further part in the Tournament.
7. Scoring
LEAGUE COMPETITION U9 – U11
WIN - 3 points, SCORE DRAW - 2 points, GOALLESS DRAW - 1 point, LOSE - 0 points
League positions will be decided on the following criteria in order of importance:
(1) Points, (2) Goal difference, (3) Goals for, (4) Result when teams played each other, (5) Toss of a coin by a member of the Tournament Committee.
QUARTER FINALS, SEMI FINALS AND FINAL GAMES
If the scores are level at full time penalties will apply.
Each team will take 3 penalties alternately using 3 different players from the team on the field of play at the final whistle.
If the scores are still level, teams will continue to take alternate “sudden death” penalties, firstly by the remaining players who were on the field of play at the final whistle, including the goalkeeper, and then in the same order as before until one team scores and the other team fails.
8. Disputes and Protests
Any dispute or protest relating to a particular game must be received in writing at the Control Tent within 10 minutes of the end of the game.
The Organising Committee’s decision shall be final and no appeal shall be made against that decision.
Any other points not covered by these rules shall be referred to the Organising Committee whose decision shall be final.
Random checks of the player’s ages will be made during the Tournament. Any team playing an over age player will be disqualified and their previous results will be considered void.
9. Other
All Managers, Players and Spectators are asked to ensure that no damage is caused to the Pitches, Goals or property of Bearwood College, and that the Playing Fields are left tidy and free of litter.
Black plastic sacks will be provided to each Team Manager for his team’s litter, and these sacks should be left by the exit from the Playing Field as the team leaves.
